When downed trees blocked access to the KEWS tower, used for emergency communications, KEWS reached out to the Kentucky Division of Forestry to restore access to the tower.
With the proper training, DAQ inspectors can determine whether too much of a harmful contaminant is being released into the surrounding air by observing a plume of smoke billowing from a smoke stack. To receive that training, they attend “Smoke School.”
Participants heard panelists speak on a variety of issues such as economic development opportunities within sustainable agriculture, Kentucky’s business outlook, the potential of brownfield redevelopment, and renewable energy procurement.
