The Capital Plaza Tower is 28 stories, 338 feet tall. Construction started in 1970, with the building opening in 1972. The Tower is the fourth tallest building in Kentucky.  With a modernist aesthetic, Edward Durrell Stone & Associates were the designing architects.

Final demolition is scheduled for March 11, 2018 and will be performed by Renascent Inc.
